Bringing people together to stimulate interaction in the European Defence Technology and Systems community

This is the initial site for the annual European Defence Conference (EDC). An interactive conference and network for Defence and Security technology professionals and managers from all Participating Member States of the European Defence Agency (EDA).

Cooperation in Defence and Security within Europe will not develop its full potential without a strong network of defence professionals having an opportunity to discuss and influence policy developments to support and encourage cooperation.

The EDC provides an opportunity to meet, contribute to policy development and create cooperation. The EDC intends to generate business opportunities for Defence and Security Industries in Research and Systems Development and foster cooperation in contracting and procurement.

The 1st edition of the Conference is intended to be held early 2011 in Budapest, Hungary. It is intended to intensify information exchange, networking and debate in the European Defence and Security technology and systems community. The main focus for this first edition will be European Research & Technology cooperation.

The conference will be strongly supported by Social Media and other interactive communication. Keep yourself up to date, discuss concept or content with us and interact with other interested people by joining one or more of our groups, feeds or mailing lists.

The idea for this conference came from an analysis undertaken by the Fraunhofer Institute for Trend Analysis of the development of the European Defence Agency and other issues affecting European defence business. This work suggests that there continues to be a relative lack of international interaction between profesional active in Defence and Security technology and systems in the EU.
It also suggests that there remains a lack of understanding of European policy objectives and initiatives in the defence and security field.
